KOCHI

Kochi Prefecture is endowed with beautiful and rich nature under a sparkling sun that includes a coastline with a variety of cliffs carved out by the Kuroshio current, and the clear waters typified by the Shimanto River and deep green mountains.The Shimanto River is known as “Japan’s last remaining limpid stream,” and is a tourist spot where you can enjoy activities such as canoeing and cycling while experiencing the Japan of bygone years.In the center of Kochi Prefecture, is Kochi City, where you can see a beautiful five-storied pagoda among the greenery at Chikurin-ji Temple, the precious Kochi Castle with its keep and main citadel built in the Edo period, and Hirome Market, where you can enjoy unique Kochi dining and shopping, such as "katsuo-no-tataki" (seared bonito), sweets made from hojicha green tea, and meals prepared with yuzu seasoning.
