Simose Art Museum opened in 2023 in Otake City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and has attracted attention for its design by renowned architect Shigeru Ban. In 2024, it was selected as the "World's Most Beautiful Museum" in the Prix Versailles established by UNESCO. The concept of the museum is to "Admire art, inside art." It features eight "floating" galleries that are covered in colorful glass screens. These galleries are movable and have been highly appraised worldwide as an innovative work of architecture. Inside the museum, visitors can admire glass works by Emile Gallé and contemporary Japanese and Western paintings, as well as enjoy views of the surrounding Seto Inland Sea. At the adjoining French restaurant, take in breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea while savoring dishes made with local ingredients.
