A shrine with beautiful vermillion suitenmon that was dedicated to Emperor Antoku, who died at a young age after being defeated in battle.
The "Sentei festival," a memorial service festival, is held every year in May, and the "Joro-dochu," where women are dressed in colorful, lady-in-waiting costumes, is a must see.

About 10 minutes by bus from JR Shimonoseki Station. Get off at the Karato bus stop, then about 1 minute by foot.

About 20 minutes by bus from JR Shin-Shimonoseki Station. Get off at the Karato bus stop, then about 1 minute by foot.

Point: The "Karato Market," with stores offering fresh sushi all lined up together, and "Kaikyokan Aquarium," where you can see one of the world's largest penguin tank, are also close by, so it’s a good idea to visit these places too when touring.
