HIROSHIMA ORIZURU TOWER
This is a 14-story building standing right next to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial (Genbaku Dome) World Heritage Site. The roof observatory offers commanding views of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, including the Genbaku Dome, below. On sunny days, the view extends all the way to Mt. Misen on Miyajima. The Orizuru Tower is named after the custom of folding origami paper cranes, and as this name indicates, there is an orizuru wall where visitors can leave their own paper crane as a symbol of peace. The first floor of the building houses a café, souvenir shop, and tourist information center, making it a convenient stop while sightseeing in downtown Hiroshima.
